A Spousal RRSP can be opened up for a spouse or common-law partner where the contributor claims the RRSP contribution and the Spousal RRSP holder claims the withdrawals in retirement on his or her tax return. This allows for more flexibility for splitting income (especially if you plan on retiring before 65).
