Noreen Rasbach’s Investors Diary column appears in the Saturday edition of The Globe and Mail. In this edition, she asks the question about switching to ETFs and asks Preet about the growing trend of investors (and advisors) using exchange traded funds in their portfolios. They also discuss a potential new model for relationships between investors and advisors where an investor engages a financial advisor with the intent of learning how to manage their own portfolio over the course of a few years. At that point, the investor could consider managing the portfolio themselves and saving thousands of dollars per year in fees - while still retaining a financial planner, perhaps on a fee-only basis, for specialized advice or requirements.
