Misstatements In The Market
There are many misstatements about the markets that slip under the radar. Here are two prime examples:
“Wall street is in a selling mood as stocks move down today.”
Since there must be someone willing to buy the stocks that get sold, this doesn’t make much sense. What mood were the buyers in? Really all you can say is that the transactions that took place between the buyers and sellers priced stocks lower than yesterday.
“Stock XYZ is quickly going up today.”
Misleading. You can only say where a stock HAS gone. If a reporter indicates a stock IS moving one way or the other, they shouldn’t be wasting their time telling you about it and should be busy placing their order.
